DripDrop wasn’t created by a beverage company. Or a pharmaceutical company. Or any company, for that matter. It was invented by a doctor on a relief mission in Latin America, whose simple question changed the course of dehydration treatment forever. What if ORS could taste good?
As a Mayo Clinic medical student, Dr. Eduardo Dolhun learned the potential of ORS. He also realized this important medical intervention—proven to save lives, reduce healthcare resources and save money—had a significant barrier: taste.
Dehydration from diarrhea is the #2 cause of preventable death globally for children under 5
ORS has helped reduce the number of diarrhea-related deaths in the last decade by 54%
During early humanitarian aid missions, Dr. Dolhun witnessed the problematic taste barrier facing traditional ORS.
Although the oral rehydration solution they were using was highly effective, it was hard to get down and keep down, especially for kids who’d unwittingly spit up the very thing that could save their lives.
The number of preventable dehydration deaths stuck with Dr. Dolhun and led him to seek a better solution.
Knowing a great-tasting ORS would be a game-changer, Dr. Dolhun set out to remedy this. The result was DripDrop, a quantum leap forward for rehydration therapy. A formula that improves upon the rigorous ORS standards set forth by the World Health Organization and tastes delicious, so the people who need it want to drink it.
